As I shoo the staff out of the office for a much deserved long weekend, I want to take a moment, before I sit in traffic listening to NPR, to thank YOU. You make it possible for us to do this privileged work. All of here at BCF are very grateful to you. Just today, we heard that our friends at momsrising.org generated over 5000 letters to the CPC in response to our concern that the toy industry was about to do an end- around on the toxic toys legislation. Wow – I’m very grateful for that support – you can join in on our home page. Just yesterday, we heard that the President- Elect’s transition team is keenly interested in hearing from us on environmental health issues. What a turn of events that is! Just last week our team in DC started our serious work on legislation to safeguard against BPA exposure and that CA Congressman Waxman, a champion for good solid federal regulation is now chairing the committee that we need to work with. Could it get any better? Week before that we learned that our State of the Evidence report has been accepted in the International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health. Years worth of people to thank for that! And next week … we’ll be back at it wrapping up the calendar year – hoping and praying that the economic challenges of these times don’t take too big a toll on us - and planning for our 2009 Heroes Tribute ( save the date April 30) and our Climb Against the Odds Mt Shasta as well as all our science, policy, corporate accountability and education work. We all send you our gratitude and wish you many blessings on this eve of Thanksgiving. Jeanne
