Following some last minute packing and adjusting of gear, the Climb Against the Odds team set out from the Bunny Flat trailhead (6,860 feet) at 10:00 this morning with our love and cheers to start them on the first leg of their journey. We saw the 4 rope teams off in high spirits under sunny skies for their trip to Hidden Valley base camp (9,400 feet).
The temperature was ideal and the trail was in good condition due to the previous night's freeze, but mother nature still tested the team with a day of climbing against high winds and even over a crevasse! Their training and preparation served them all well and we are thrilled to report that everyone has made it to base camp safely.
The winds eased just in time for the team to set up their tents and make camp. The group is settled into base camp where they're eating dinner and getting tucked into sleeping bags long before dark for some hard earned rest so they can be ready to rise for their alpine start soon after midnight.
Base camp sent this photo a short time ago to share just how beautiful it is up there right now. Hidden Valley is a lovely place to call home this evening. The weather is currently looking good and soon it will be time to rise and shine for summit day!
